Lemington runs down the slope to the river near Newburn, best known for the brick glass cone that has stood beside the Tyne since the eighteenth century. Much of the housing is terraced, some on steep streets, with newer estates on the higher ground.

Slopes change a move. A sofa going downhill needs two people and a strap, and a van parked on a gradient needs chocks and a level ramp. We plan the loading point before we arrive.
